London police say no serious injuries in minor subway blast

Reports of a minor explosion inside Southgate Tube Station

He told the Standard: "The police moved us on, but they said there was an explosion in the station".

People in the area were warned to stay indoors and the road outside the station has been cordoned off. Pictures on social media showed police sniffer dogs outside the station.

People are being asked to avoid the area.

Met officers are dealing with a suspicious package at #Southgate tube station.

A small number of people have been treated at the scene.

Scotland Yard said officers were at Southgate tube station, where they were making enquiries to "establish the cause of a reported minor explosion at 19:03 hours" on Tuesday.

Police add that the explosion "appears to have been minor", with no serious injuries believed to have occurred.
