Prince death: No charges will be filed

Prince's doctor agrees to $30K settlement for drug violations

An attorney for Carver County, Minn., announced today that no charges will be brought in connection with Prince's death and that the musician likely had no idea the vicodin pills he overdosed on were laced with the powerful opioid fentanyl.

Andrus says the announcement was "devastating". His father, Dr. Howard Kornfeld, arranged for him to come in his place to meet with Prince "to discuss concerns, determine if Prince was a candidate for their program and determine if he was willing to participate in their program".

Johnson's attorney F. Clayton Tyler said his client is relieved no criminal charges were filed against him. Some of those pills were later determined to be counterfeit, and state and federal authorities have been investigating the source of the fentanyl for almost two years.

There will be no criminal charges made in the death of Prince. "There will be no further comment". Johnson went to Walgreen's to pick up Prince's prescriptions and allegedly told investigators it was the first time he had done that for Prince. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the case remains open.

Giants releasing Brandon Marshall
The Ravens have been the team with the most interest in Bryant thus far and are now the oddsmakers' favorites to land him . Obviously, there would be some irony to Marshall joining the team that released the veteran that could replace him in NY .

Despite strict guidelines around sharing the autopsy's findings with any outside parties, a copy of it was obtained and reported out by The Associated Press within a week. He gave Prince intravenous fluids, then wrote out prescriptions for vitamin D and anti-nausea pills. The cause of death was an accidental overdose of the opioid fentanyl, according to the Midwest Medical Examiner's office. But the attorney stressed that it wasn't percocet that killed Prince. "Prince's death is a tragic example of how opioid addiction and overdose deaths do not discriminate, no matter the demographic".

Metz said the evidence shows Prince thought he was taking Vicodin, not fentanyl.

There is no evidence showing how Prince obtained those counterfeit pills and no evidence as to their source, Metz said.

Prince was 57 when he was found alone and unresponsive in an elevator at his Paisley Park estate on April 21, 2016.

Puerto Rico loses power island-wide as electrical grid collapses
The island only has one electric company, and it was $9 billion in debt and utilizes old, outdated infrastructure and equipment. Just last week, 840,000 customers were left without power after two electrical lines failed, causing a massive blackout.

After returning to Minnesota, Prince had began to show symptoms of withdrawal from narcotics. According to a search warrant, Schulenberg told a detective he had at one point prescribed Prince medications that Johnson picked up at a Walgreen's pharmacy. Schulenberg's attorney says he denies writing an illegal prescription but settled the civil claim to avoid the cost of litigation.

April 20 - Prince is seen by Schulenberg again. Kornfeld sent his son, Andrew, to Minnesota that night, and the younger Kornfeld was among those who found Prince's body. Metz said Prince had "been in pain for a number of years", and he was taking pain medicine for a number of years. No one will be criminally charged.

Michael Schulenberg, agreed to pay a $30,000 fine after admitting he knew painkillers he prescribed to Prince's drummer would be used by Prince. That has been the subject of two years of investigation by the Carver County Sheriff's Office, working with federal agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration. It is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. A few bottles of opioid inside the Paisley Park estate were prescribed to his friend Kirk Johnson.
