Doug Ford Elected leader of Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario

Ford replaces Patrick Brown as leader after he abruptly resigned in late January amid sexual misconduct allegations, which that he vehemently denies. He decries them as "categorically untrue". You can also watch it streamed live on or tune into regular news updates on CBC Radio One in Ontario.

Despite the scandals and drama, Skelly says the party will persevere.

As relatively mild as he was when speaking publicly about his opponents during this leadership campaign, his past form suggests he will try to channel voters' dislike of Ms. Wynne in a much harsher tone than the other leadership candidates would have. Fedeli claimed that the party was full of "rot" involving its finances and memberships for people who did not exist.

MARKHAM, Ont. - The caucus chair of Ontario's Tories has asked hundreds of members to wait a half hour for an update on the party's leadership race, in which a victor was to be announced this afternoon.

A heated battle for the reins of Ontario's Progressive Conservatives that exposed deep rifts within the party continued to smolder even after Doug Ford was crowned the new leader late on Saturday. He says he plans to wrest control of the party from elites and give a voice to the grassroots members.

Several accounts all started in the last month have been using the hashtag #crookedchristine to attack Christine Elliott, accusing her of corruption and tweeting supportively of her rival Doug Ford.

Carlin Isles scored a try as United States of America defeated New Zealand 17-0 in their quarterfinal of the Vancouver Sevens. Australia, who are fourth in the 10-stop competition's standings, topped their group on Saturday with two wins and a draw.

Party president Jag Badwal announced the results seven hours later than scheduled, saying the former Toronto city councillor had narrowly eked out a win over former provincial legislator Christine Elliott on the third ballot. Elliott is the widow of late federal finance minister Jim Flaherty.

The victor of the race was to be announced at a convention centre in Markham, Ont., shortly after 3 p.m., but party officials have remained huddled behind closed doors for hours.

Caroline Mulroney would be at 17.3 per cent and Tanya Granic Allen would come in with 12.5 per cent.

He'll earn $5 million this season so the move saves the Super Bowl champion Eagles much-needed space under the salary cap. Needing to shed salary ahead of next week's salary cap deadline, the Eagles have made their first move to cut payroll.

Mulroney was among the candidates who wanted the vote extended.

Ben Levitt, Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas Tory candidate, could only shake his head at how the leadership event was winding up. In total, 71,450 members were registered to vote.

He said Elliott "represents exactly what we need in public service" and added that "her commitment to our Party is second to none". He pledges, however, never to muzzle members of the caucus if elected and allow them to vote with their conscience. It also noted that it had previously extended registration and voting deadlines. Originally, voting was supposed to close on that day.

It took significantly longer than expected, but alas, the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party has a new leader.

A senior party official speaking on background said the digital votes are put on printed ballots to ensure accuracy and to leave a physical record of the result. Mulroney follows with 17.5 per cent and Granic Allen trails with 12 per cent support. Committee Chair Hartley Lefton defends the process, saying it was passed by senior leadership in accordance with the party constitution.

Romano said that to the party, Ford is, in fact, the leader.
