Trump to withdraw nomination of climate skeptic as environmental adviser

Trump plans to withdraw climate skeptic's nomination to environmental office: report

But White's nomination languished in the Senate, and was among a batch of nominations the Senate sent back to the White House at the end of 2017 when Congress closed up for the year.

A climate-change skeptic won't become President Trump's chief environmental aide after her nomination toiled in the Senate for months.

The White House plans to withdraw its controversial nomination of Kathleen Hartnett-White to lead the Council on Environmental Quality, HuffPost has confirmed. Democrats were particularly incensed by her renomination.

White has a long history of questioning established science on climate change and once dismissed the idea that carbon dioxide is a pollutant and calling it "the gas of life on this planet" - comments that drew criticism from environmentalists who opposed her nomination.

GROUNDHOG DAY: Will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow?
Since 1988, the groundhog was "right" 14 times and "wrong" 16 times. "As a Groundhog Ambassador, I spread the word", Smith said. The original Milltown Mel died in July 2015, but his friend took over his name and has carried on with the tradition.

She then corrected herself saying, "No, I'm not".

Various Trump administration officials, including the president, have expressed skepticism on climate change, which has been reflected in some of the administration's policies.

In testimony given to the Senate committee previous year, White said humans probably contributed to warming trends, but "the extent to which, I think, is uncertain", the Post reported.

Democrats also assailed White's writings in which she called renewable energy "unreliable and parasitic", described global warming as "a creed, a faith, a dogma that has little to do with science", and asserted that science does not dictate policy in democracies.

Polish PM says Warsaw understands Israel's emotions about Holocaust bill
To Poland's anti-pluralist ruling party that doesn't matter, because the real goal of the law was never Poland's global image. Polish politicians who are supporting the bill have insisted that Germany should be blamed exclusively for the Holocaust .

White House officials confirmed the news late Saturday night, according to the Associated Press.

US Senator Tom Carper, the top Democrat on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, said it was "abundantly clear very early on" that heading the Council on Environmental Quality was not the right job for White. White could not immediately be reached late on Saturday for comment.

White was a senior fellow at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, a conservative think tank that received funding from Koch Industries, ExxonMobil, Chevron and other fossil-fuels companies. She previously lead the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
